Hallbrand needed a professional ecommerce website to support its role as the Australian distributor of Kite Optics. The business sells a growing range of binoculars, spotting scopes, stabilised optics and accessories, both directly to customers and through its dealer network.

Although I specialise in Squarespace website design, I don’t believe every business should automatically be built on Squarespace. Choosing the right platform is one of the most important decisions in any website project, and for businesses with a large or growing product catalogue, advanced filtering requirements and more complex ecommerce needs, Shopify can often be the better long-term solution.

Alongside my Squarespace design work, I have many years of experience managing my own established Shopify store. While I’m not a Shopify developer or custom coder, I have a strong understanding of the platform’s native capabilities, including collections, metafields, filtering, navigation and product management. That knowledge allows me to configure Shopify in a way that delivers a professional, scalable online store without relying on unnecessary custom development.

For Hallbrand, I recommended Shopify, selected a premium theme that suited the brand, and used my understanding of both ecommerce and design to create a website that feels polished, intuitive and easy to manage. Detailed product information was structured using metafields, products were organised into logical collections, advanced filtering was configured to help customers quickly find the right optics, and the overall shopping experience was carefully refined to reflect the premium nature of the Kite Optics brand.

The result is a modern ecommerce website that not only looks professional but also provides Hallbrand with a solid platform for future growth. While Squarespace remains my platform of choice for most small businesses, projects like Hallbrand demonstrate that I’m always focused on recommending the solution that best suits the client’s goals, rather than trying to make one platform fit every situation.
