Woodpecker Furniture and Warren Woodturners are two brands operating under the same company, each serving a different part of the timber industry. Woodpecker Furniture manufactures quality furniture supplied through retailers across New Zealand, while Warren Woodturners specialises in custom timber turning, CNC machining and a growing range of timber products available to purchase online.

The project began with a new website for Woodpecker Furniture. Although the business had been supplying retailers for decades, it had never invested in a dedicated online presence. Their reputation had been built through long-standing relationships and word of mouth, but they recognised it was time for a website that reflected the quality of their products and strengthened the credibility of the brand.

The brief was to create something clean, timeless and professional. Rather than filling the site with unnecessary design elements, the focus was on letting the furniture speak for itself through strong imagery, thoughtful layouts and clear messaging. With only a limited amount of existing content to work from, I developed the site structure, wrote the copy, and shaped the overall direction of the project.

Following the success of the Woodpecker website, the company asked me to create a second website for Warren Woodturners. While the two brands share the same ownership, the websites needed to serve very different purposes. Warren Woodturners required a much larger site, including a full ecommerce store selling timber products online alongside detailed information about its custom manufacturing and commercial services.

Rather than creating something completely different, I carried the same clean, understated design language across both brands, giving the business a consistent online presence while allowing each website to reflect its own audience and purpose. The result is two complementary websites: one focused on showcasing a furniture manufacturer and the other combining specialist manufacturing services with a fully integrated Squarespace ecommerce store.

Together, the two websites provide a cohesive digital presence across the wider business while demonstrating how a consistent design approach can be adapted for businesses with very different goals.
